Guess Who’s Coming To MySpace?

From a report on Inside Facebook:

We don’t have too many specific details on what the [Facebook] Connect integration [with MySpace] will look like, although our sources described it as being “everywhere,” with some News Corp. managers apparently “shocked” by how deep it is.

The move comes on the heels of Yahoo!’s announcement that they too would integrate Facebook Connect throughout their network.

Is everyone just ceding social to Zuckerberg & Co? Has the whole world gone mad?

Next up: Macbooks to come shipped with Windows Vista.

Strategically it makes complete sense. With the iLike purchase, Myspace is already one of the largest developers in the facebook ecosystem. And as Myspace re-positions itself as the social entertainment hub, leveraging facebook’s distribution makes sense. Myspace isn’t about being the horizontal social graph, it’s trying to be a vertical entertainment graph on top.

I think it’s smart.

Rex Sez: Nothing new here, it’s about keeping your friends close and your so called enemies closer. I agree, smart move.

Should big social nets should not collaborate and try to work together? Should it always be about stabbing the other in the back? Why?

Competition is great for innovation, but there is really nothing here but large numbers at the end of the day. MySpace has one large number, Facebook has another - together they do more by cooperating than by killing each other off.
